Magazine Cover Types

1. Early Magazine covers
   -  Had paintings on them.
   - Just a pretty picture, that had nothing to do with the inside. 
   - Morals and Ethics.

2. The Poster Cover
  - Very few words, not designed to work with the picture.
   - Picture is the most dominant piece. 
   - Very visually appealing.
   -  If there are words they relate to photo, and in general they would have a page number to go with.    
   - The picture better be great Or the person or something that is very well none. 
Disadvantages:
   - It doesnt tell you whats more inside.
   - Can be boring.
   - Pick a real good picture to catch attention.
3. Pictures Married to Type
   - The words dont cover the most important parts of the photo, in fact they work with the photo.
   - The words relate direct to the words on the color and they they tell us what were gonna see in the             magazine. 
   - They work together and help each other out. 
 Disadvantages: 
   - It may not be visually appealing to the masses
   - You have two things to catch your eyes, either eyes or pictures.
4. In the Forest of Words
   - lots of words organized in headlines and sub headlines style. topics.
   - headlines are different size, colors who combine, font
   - One major picture, and another smaller.
   - The picture is not the most important element, the words can cover importants part of the picture.
   - It has multiply points of entry.
 Disadvantages:
   - Cluttered.
   - It takes away from the photo behind it.

Tips

Environmental Portraits
Portraits are about people. Environmental portraits are about people and what they do with their lives. They are about the kind of house a person lives in and how they decorate it; about what kind of work they do and where they do it; about the surroundings they choose and the things they surround themselves with. Environmental portraits seek to convey an idea about a person by combining portraiture with a sense of place.

The Casual Portrait
Wherever you are with your camera, always be on the lookout for those moments when a person's character shines though. If you have a formal portrait session with someone, make some frames of him while he straightens his tie or while she brushes her hair before the formal sitting. Walk back to the car with her and shoot her on the street. If you are on a spring picnic with the family, look for that moment of bliss when your wife leans back, sated, to enjoy the caress of the warm sun. If you're on the street, look for the impatient expression on a pedestrian's face as he waits for the light to change. Always be on the lookout for the telling moment. Every person has a story, and every picture should tell part of that story.

Environmental Portrait

The reason i chose this picture was because it showed how this three people living is to entertain the people out in the streets and enjoy what they love to do. i love how the whole audience is in black and white while the dancing group are the only ones in color.

The reason i like this picture is because  shes vintage and she works as in selling shoes. i love how she had the big shoe representing the money she owns in tips. She puts the shoe out towards the camera to make the point.


Photography Self Portrait

I like how she puts the camera out infront of her. it captures the floor the walls and her to show that everything combines together. also it show how shes coming towards the camera.

i like how in this picture they captured them self taking a picture by the reflection of some ball on the ground. it captured the trees sky and the whole background of them which makes this picture really good.

Casual Portrait

I chose this picture because i like how she just looks relax as in she doesn't have to pose or anything. And she looks very casual.

i picked this picture because drake looks super casual and looks very relaxed, also as in Marylin does too.

Best of 2010

i really like this one because it really shows the lights and how it has a nice merger. at first i thought it was time square, but its really hong kong< i really like how the rain really defines everything, and makes it a lot shiner.

i love this picture it really captured the moment how it he tries to capture the baseball and his whole body is in the air, while his hand is the only thing that is able to balance him.

the reason why i like this picture is because its about fashion, and this was taken during fashion week. plus i really like there clothes its really cute and i could so relate to it.

Because i honestly believe that i can listen to his song and never get tired of listening to it. I have to say that his really good rapper, i love his voice and his lyrics.

Harry Potter

i love this movie, i honestly have to say thats its the best movie, i will most definitely go and watch the second part. ive always loved his harry potter movies, and this one really topped all of them, too bad its the last one.

 Oil Spill

the reason for the oil spill to be a huge problem, was because many people didnt know what to do about it. this lasted for like a long time, and hopefully that people were be able to know what to do.

Lady Gaga

lady gaga, was probably the most know person in the world, the reason was cause her fashion or the crazy outfits she would wear that made a huge statement, also her music.

This was Justin biebers year, he was so popular and had the biggest stories whenever he would come on tv, mostly it was to critique him, hardly for his music.

My Holiday

1. Tell me what is the one thing that happened on your holiday that you will remember? It can be a trip, a family visit, a present, something fun.
we gathered up, and partyied pretty much every day, it was so nice to finally gather up like a regular family an enjoy the holidays.

2. What are your resolutions for the 2011 year?
my new year resolution is to, start working out and be healtier, also to get a job and be able to buy stuff.

im looking for a good year, when people actually take care of the planet and be environmental, and be more peaceful, just love no war. (:

Final Review

1.you double click on the server drive. then go to my documents and open up jstudents server T, then on the folder photojournalism, later to your class period and then you look for your name.
2. We would go to akins photoj blog spot to update new blogs about photography what we think and go over on what we do.
3. to make a pinhole camera would need to use a can of oatmeal and pour all of it out. later you would glue a black paper to the inside of it without showing any part of the brown from the inside, you would also need to glue one to the bottom of it. on the top of the can your also gonna glue a a black circle to it, so when you you take the picture there wont be any light.but then you would have to make a littlesmall hole for the light to get the picture,but  we would have to put a lap over it to let the light in and then dont let it in.
4. first we would get a paper in which the picture would be transferred and the shiny part of it would be facing the hole where once we open the flap the light will go through but we don't want it to catch a lot of light so it dependson how long you want it to get.

5a. Rule of thirds: Try to position the most important elements in your scene along these lines, or at the points where they intersect. Doing so will add balance and interest to your photo.
5b. Balancing Elements: Placing your main subject off-centre, as with the rule of thirds, balance the 'weight' of your subject by including another object of lesser importance to fill the space.
5c. Leading lines: There are many different types of line - straight, diagonal, curvy, zigzag, radial etc - and each can be used to enhance our photo's composition.
5d. Symmetry and Patterns (repetition): They can make for very eye-catching compositions, particularly in situations where they are not and expect break the symmetry or pattern in some way, introducing tension and a focal point to the scene.
5e.Viewpoint: massive impact on the composition of our photo, and as a result it can greatly affect the message that the shot conveys. Rather than just shooting from eye level, consider photographing from high above, down at ground level, from the side, from the back, from a long way away, from very close up, and so on.
 5f. Background/simplicity: look around for a plain and unobtrusive background and compose your shot so that it doesn't distract or detract from the subject.

5g. Depth: create depth in a photo by including objects in the foreground, middle ground and background. Another useful composition technique is overlapping, where you deliberately partially obscure one object with another.

i would really like to join the yearbook next year. i was in the yearbook in eighth grade and i really liked it. i like how i'll be able to do something that everyone would keep forever. also i really think that this would be a fun thing to do especially since its gonna be my senior year next year and i really want to do something big and important that would make me want to be more responsible.

Theme Parks

1. From all the theme parks i would have to say that i wanna visit the six flags in new Orleans. i like how the theme is jazz land, which i would love to be back in that time and get good pictures from all the night light and how people would get so into the theme and also they would dress as it, to fit in. i like how there able to pull everything together and make it seem like its real. especially how the got the buildings to look like its the real new Orleans, i would love to take pictures of the buildings and getting different point of views.

5. i would like to start a documentary about the old cafes and what was the main thing that brought so many people together during this time, and how during this time they used a lot of colors, especially the bright pastel colors which caught everyone's eyes. the cars are a whole different kind of shapes that seem to look okay when you use all these different colors. the style is what i love the most i like how everyone was so well dressed up and the girls never looked dirty nor the guys and they actually seemed to be good guys and gentlemen's. i would go back in time and take as many pictures to capture this time period which i love and what made it change so quick and is no longer like this.

6. i think that to take this pictures are gonna be a little to difficult to do it. mostly because all of the old school stuff are taken down and been replaced newer stuff, but most ly the old school stuff stay in place when its in small towns, which most are. another is to get the people to dress and get the colors which nowadays everything is so different and everything is modern. this would be a very difficult thing to do and find the right place.

 Ricky and Luis are trying to finish there work, by staying on focus, there really trying got pass Ms. Patrick's, physics class this six weeks.Although, there's a lot of students who don't care as much as they do, and there off topic, while they stick to what they intend to do.

a.) One was the rule of thirds, in which there's heads are where it at. Another was balance where the first guy with the white shirt balances the white paper on the corner.
